Sunday, the September call-ups will have an opportunity to play as Mike Quade decides to have what he jokingly refers to as ‘Kids Day’.
With his focus on winning, the younger guys have not had the opportunity to play under Quade. Mike Quade is a candidate for next year’s managerial position and wants to prove that he is a winner.
The Cubs find themselves playing several teams in playoff contention as they head down the stretch and Quade is reluctant to sacrifice winning just to audition the younger guys. He has received much criticism for that but continues to win ballgames.
The September call-ups are hoping to impress so they can win spots on the major league roster next year. Without much playing time, it is difficult to assess whether or not they are ready so the youngsters will have to make the most out of limited playing time.
